It Started With An Ache
Knowing what your body is doing, and why, is of tremendous benefit to us. It means you can't have the wool pulled over your eyes by a medical profession that only wants to write a script for anti-biotics.
When your body is dealing with dead matter that needs cleaning up, it sends a cleaning crew. If the cleaning crew is overwhelmed by the amount of stuff to be cleaned, it calls for assistance. This is done by the release of a chemical into the blood. That chemical does something interesting besides call for help. It makes us feel achey, lethargic and, in large doses, nauseous. In smaller doses we feel achey, lethargic and have lost our appetite.
This is EXACTLY how I first realized I was undergoing Herxheimer (die off). Herxheimer is the word used to describe the dying off of bacteria and the release of toxins into the body enmass when undergoing a detox or herbal cleanse. The sudden increase of such things into the body causes an immune system response to deal with it.
It is NOT the toxins and dead bacteria which make us feel ill. It is the body's doing. In this case, the chemical from the cleaning crew.
Following this achey feeling I developed a temperature.
Feeling achey with a lost appetite and a temperature would send most people running to the doctor. But not me. For I know WHY these things are experienced.
The temperature is also all the body's doing. And it serves two purposes...
Purpose # 1: An increased temperature doesn't make the environment very favorable for bacteria. They prefer it to be normal because an increased temperature slows down their dividing.
Purpose # 2: An increased temperature speeds up the body's immune system so it can deal with the bacteria and toxins quicker.
When you have a temperature you may sometimes experience cold sweats, or just a feeling of being cold. This is also the body's doing to help increase your temperature even more.
If you feel cold, your body might shiver to increase warmth. This extra heat energy helps increase the internal temperature more. If you sweat, it will evaporate and cool the skin. The cooled skin will then give a feeling of chill. To which the body responds by shivering which increases temperature more. The sweat also is a faster way to get toxins out of the body.
A lost appetite is useful so the body does not need to devote precious resources to digestion. It can thus concentrate on dealing with what it needs to.
So as you see, all feelings normally associated with being sick, are our body's doing! And when I went through the die off, I marveled at how wonderful my body is at dealing with things.
My temperature was 38.1C (100.8F). I felt very warm to the touch. A little achey and lethargic. But pleased my body was doing what it was designed to do. And also pleased as it was a sign my detox had gotten rid of stuff.
The only things I did to help my body was to consume about 10,000mg of vitamin C powder, take some Olive Leaf Extract (OLE) and have a whole lot of garlic. My body would use the vitamin C in its immune functions and the OLE and garlic would help kill off anything that lingered.
The symptom time line (the first day of symptoms until the last day) went, achey began half way through day one, temperature began on day 2 and continued through the first half of day three. Aches all gone by day three evening.
I know you'll think this odd, but I felt good that I was achey, lethargic and had a temperature. It meant my system was functioning as it should and good stuff was happening inside.
What most people would do is run off to the doctor, get some anti-biotics and get rid of the symptoms - symptoms which are all your body's doing for very important reasons.
You may have heard about the toxic shock caused by tampons. This happens because the blood is not left to leave the body. The decaying blood contains bacteria which begin to multiply and release their toxins into the body. The body's response is aches, lethargy, nausea, increased body temperature and, in extreme cases, an all over body rash. The rash is due to the body placing the toxins out of the blood and into the skin until it can deal with them at an appropriate time. And the skin reacts to the toxins by developing a rash.
What the individual will then do is rush to take anti-biotics - giving the immune system extra stuff to deal with - and try to lower their body temperature. Yet, it is this increased temperature that the body has created and uses to help fight the bacteria and here we are interfering with it.
Fact is, our body knows how to fix us more than any doctor does. All the medical profession does is hide symptoms so we think we are better. But hiding symptoms represses the immune system function and usually gives it extra work to do at the same time.
What this all comes down to is knowing your body. What different signs mean and why you get them. You will find that often, the best course of action to take is to let your body handle it for it knows best.
